What is Kobbla?
KOBBLA is a strategy game. The player’s mission is to bring as many stones as possible with you as a long tail, when you jump out of the game on the opponent’s side. It’s simply like jumping on rocks in a creek or along a stony beach. Read more about Kobbla rules here.
The story behind Kobbla
The headland overlooking Ihre bay in Gotland is magnificent and the trail that leads over it towards Lickershamn offers breathtaking views. When, after several kilometres, it begins losing in height and leading down towards the beach before the harbour, we slide down the steep slope. The way back to Ihre will instead be taken over the barren rocky beach. With the headland now towering over us we walk, climb and jump over large boulders and rocks. Jagged they protrude from the water as if someone has pushed them up. Over the ages wind, water and heavy seas have battered the cliff face of the headland causing the erosion we see today. As a sharp contrast to this rough environment, lies the surrounding softly polished pebbles and fossil. Over millennia water and sand has washed over the stones and made them smooth as silk. Under one of these hikes the idea of the Kobbla game took shape.
